U.S.$100 Million Set Aside for Renewable Energy in East Africa (East African Business Week)

The African Renewable Energy Fund (AREF), has $100 million of committed capital to support small to medium scale independent power producers (IPPs).

According to a statement, the fund, which will be based in Nairobi, wants to raise $200 million within the next 12 months.

The money is for grid-connected development stage renewable energy projects, including small hydro, wind, geothermal, solar, biomass and waste gas.
