Search for Geothermal Resources in the Caucasus Heats Up (Trend)

The Azerbaijani State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources plans to complete a preliminary project to research the construction of geothermal power plants in 2015.

The project, started in 2011, suggests launching research, inviting experts and creation of work groups, the agency said.

The project's coverage area includes Khachmaz, Lankaran, Masalli and other districts of the country.

Azerbaijan has a great potential for the development of alternative energy including 800 MW of geothermal and geothermic energy.
