The hot spring resort known as Tsuchiyu Onsen, located in Fukushima City, will be the first Japanese national park to have a geothermal power plant constructed within its borders.
The managers hope to generate 2.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, or enough to supply about 500 households. They expect to make about 980,000 dollars a year by selling electricity starting in July 2015.
