University of Hawaii to Survey Geothermal Energy on Oahu (Pacific Business News)

Oahu, which isn’t known for its abundance of geothermal energy, is about to re-enter the conversation after the head of the Center for the Study of Active Volcanoes looks to investigate further into the possibilities of geothermal energy on the Hawaii’s most populated island and biggest consumer of energy in the state.

Thus far, much of the talk regarding geothermal energy in Hawaii involves the Big Island, which is home to Puna Geothermal Venture, the only working geothermal plant in the state, and also Maui, where Ormat, the owner of Puna Geothermal, is studying the possibilities of this renewable, firm energy resource on the Valley Isle.
