Newberry geothermal pilot project needs infusion for spring restart
Field work in the geothermal project on Newberry Volcano is on hold until spring, but that doesn't mean that GRC Member Susan Petty isn't busy.
Petty, president of AltaRock Energy in Seattle, is trying to secure millions of dollars in funding by April to ensure the next step in the enhanced geothermal systems project goes as planned after the snow thaws.
“We have to raise a fair amount of money, about $5 million to do this next phase," said Petty, who is also the chief technology officer for the company. In total the project will cost more than $40 million.
