Geothermal/Alternative Energy and Transmission Element in Imperial County’s General Plan to be Updated (Imperial Valley Press)
The geothermal/alternative energy and transmission element of the Imperial County’s general plan will be updated in order to more easily create renewable energy projects in the county.
The Imperial County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to approve a contract with the Chambers Group and award them $519,415.50 to complete the general plan update.
The update will determine the ideal place for renewable energy projects, especially around the Salton Sea where geothermal projects are increasing, said Brian Mooney, Chambers Group director of environmental and urban planning.
