USA:

U.S. Politicians Urge Tax Reform to Aid Renewable Energy (renews.biz)

of California's 36th District
Some 60 U.S. Democrat and Republican lawmakers are calling on the government to promote renewable energy as it tackles tax reform legislation.

The bipartisan group sent a letter to the House Committee on Ways and Means urging it to continue support for renewable energy. The letter is endorsed by the American Wind Energy Association, the U.S. Solar Energy Industries Association and the U.S. Geothermal Energy Association.

“Renewable energy is a critical area of economic growth for California’s 36th district and the rest of the country,” said Representative Raul Ruiz. “We have to work together to advocate for renewable energy jobs, domestic manufacturing and American energy independence.”

The letter said that the United States saw a 34% decrease in renewable energy investment last year due to policy uncertainty. The group asked the committee to maintain policies in the tax code that promote investment in and deployment of renewable energy technologies, such as the production tax credit and the investment tax credit.
