Record of Decision Signed for Casa Diablo IV Geothermal Energy Project (Sierra Wave)
The Bureau of Land Management’s Bishop Field Office and the U.S. Forest Service, Inyo National Forest, today signed the Records of Decision (PDF) approving a new 40 MWe geothermal project near Mammoth Lakes in Mono County, California.This follows the announcement on August 12 by U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Sally Jewel that the project had been approved.
Under the terms of the Records of Decision for the Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report, the Casa Diablo IV Geothermal Development Project, run by ORNI 50 LLC (wholly owned subsidiary of Ormat Nevada Inc.), will be built on lands administered by the Inyo National Forest and on private lands within four existing federal geothermal leases. The project will include construction of a new geothermal power plant, up to 16 new production and injection wells, multiple pipelines and an electric transmission line.
