San Miguel to Bid for Leyte Plants' Output (Rappler)

SMC Global Power Holdings Corp., the power arm of conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC), will join the bidding for the rights over Unified Leyte geothermal power plants' output slated in October.

"Yes, we will bid," said Ramon Ang, president and chief operating officer of SMC, when asked for a comment.

SMC Global is the Philippines' largest power trader, currently administering the capacities of the Sual coal plant, San Roque hydropower plant and the Ilijan natural gas power facility.

The company has a total of 2,545 MWe installed capacity, making it one of the largest independent power generation companies in the country.
