NV Energy Bill Passes - Awaits Governor's Signature (Las Vegas Review Journal)

Bill will provide Nevada utility with opportunity to add 350 MWe of renewable energy.

An important piece of legislation for the renewable energy industry in Nevada was approved Monday. Senate Bill 123 passed the Assembly on a 31-10 vote after a spirited debate. It already passed the Senate on a unanimous vote.

The bill requires NV Energy to divest itself of 800 MW of coal-generated energy by the end of 2019 and replace it with 350 MWe generated by renewable sources and 550 MW of natural gas or other sources of electricity.

Governor Sandoval has already expressed support for the bill.
