EDC Shuts Down Bacon-Manito Geothermal Power Plant for Repairs (InterAksyon.com)
Energy Development Corp (EDC) today said it has shut down the Bacon-Manito (BacMan) geothermal plants in Sorsogon and Albay to make way for maintenance work.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock exchange, EDC said BacMan's 55 MWe Unit 1 generating plant was switched off on June 1 as the company had to replace the facility's hot well pump.
"This planned maintenance activity should be completed in approximately [three] days, or earlier," the Lopez-led company said.
Early this year, EDC shut down BacMan's 55 MWe Unit 2 after newly-installed turbine blades sheared off, causing damage to the facility. The plant's 20 MWe Unit 3 is still undergoing repair work.
