What connects fish heads, geothermal power, and food shortages in sub-Saharan Africa? The answer is an innovative new business model that could play a major role in cutting greenhouse gas emissions, reviving Iceland's economy, and tackling global food shortages.

Iceland's President this week has revealed plans detailing how cheap renewable heat could make a major contribution to global food security, as the World Bank this week also announced plans to mobilize $500m to scale up geothermal power in developing countries.
