The European Commissioner for Energy, Gunther Oettinger, has been announced as a keynote for the upcoming international geothermal energy conference, Iceland Geothermal Conference 2013.
Gunther Oettinger was appointed as the European Commissioner for Energy in 2010, and is responsible for the European Union’s energy policy, as well as issues related to nuclear power and carbon emissions.
Oettinger will be giving a keynote alongside a number of high-profile speakers, including Thomas DeLeo, Sithe Global; Jay Nathwani, U.S. Department of Energy; Dr. Silas Masinde Simiyu, GDC; a keynote from Professor Jefferson W. Tester, Cornell University; Prof. Roland N. Horne, an influential figure within the field of both geothermal and petroleum energy research; Dr. Mike Allen, Geothermal New Zealand initiative; Bjarni Bjarnason, Reykjavik Energy; and Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Managing Director of the World Bank.
