Geothermal Industry to be Taken Out of Mining Sector (en.bisnis.com)

The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) wants to take geothermal power out from the mining category to protect the designation of geothermal as an alternative energy.

The Secretary General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) with the Ministry Djadjang Sukarna said his office would continue to seek to harmonize regulations related to the utilization of geothermal energy. One of these proposed revisions to the Law No. 27/2003 concerning the use of geothermal heat to be separate from mining activities.
