North Sumatran Geothermal Power Plant Nears Completion (Bisnis Indonesia)

The Sarulla Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) project in North Tapanuli, North Sumatra, is nearly complete, although there are obstacles in taxation.

In early 2015 the phase 1 unit is expected to generate about 100 MWe of electricity. The agreed price is estimated at US$6.7 cents per kWh with an escalation of 2% per annum.

The Secretary-General of New Renewable Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry of Energy Conversion Djadjang Sukarna hopes the Decree of three ministers (SKB) concerning this project can be signed soon. He believed it although there is still unresolved taxation, which the Government is still optimistic that the SKB can be completed in January.
