Indonesia Increases Price of Renewable Energies for Electricity (Jakarta Globe)

The government has announced it will raise the price of three types of renewable energies for electricity needs, including geothermal, saying the move is necessary to encourage Indonesia's overall renewable energy production.

Deputy Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Rudi Rubiandini announced in Jakarta on Wednesday that state electricity firm PLN must now pay more for electricity produced by geothermal, biomass and hydro power plants.

The price of geothermal electricity is now up to between 10 and 18.5 US cents per kilowatt-hour from the previous 9 cents per kWh.
