Geodynamics forms geothermal joint venture in Australia (Recharge - News Release)

Geodynamics has formed a joint venture with Gulkula Mining Company to investigate a direct-heat geothermal project in Gove Peninsula, in Australia’s Northern Territory.

The venture will consider the potential for high-heat-producing granite formations to deliver energy to the Rio Tinto-owned Pacific Aluminium alumina refinery, next to the geothermal resource.

Connection to a geothermal heat source could allow Pacific Aluminium to reduce fuel-oil consumption and lower its carbon footprint.

The granite formations being investigated by the joint venture are shallower and lower in temperature than the formations Geodynamics has been developing at Innamincka in the Cooper Basin, South Australia.
