African Journalists Attend Seminar on Effective Science Reporting (all Africa)


About 150 journalists from African countries will converge in Nakuru for a four-day scientific conference. The conference will touch on environment, science, health and agriculture issues.

The seminar will be held from August 20 to 24, is organized by Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (MESHA) in coordination with Internews and Egerton University.

MESHA's Nakuru coordinator, Peter Kahare said the workshop is intended to inform journalists on ways of reporting and communicating scientific matters effectively. Among the outdoor activities scheduled for the attendants include visiting Geothermal Development Company's energy project at Menengai crater.

At the end of the workshop,the journalists are expected to establish an African Declaration on Effective Science Communication which will seek to oblige African journalists, communicators and researchers to improve their approaches and skills of reporting matters related to science.
