GRC members recognized in US geothermal awards

Members of the Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) were recognized at the US Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) annual awards dinner Tuesday evening, part of the GEA National Geothermal Summit in Sacramento.

Enel Green Power was awarded the Technological Advancement Award for its Stillwater Solar-Geothermal Hybrid Plant project in Churchill County near Fallon. The plant is the first solar-geo hybrid plant of its kind in the world.

Reno-based Ormat Technologies received the Environmental Stewardship award for its efforts to protect sage grouse habitat while building its Tuscarora and McGinness Hills projects.

Ram Power/Polaris Energia was given the Economic Development award for its San Jacinto-Tizate Geothermal Project in Leon, Nicaragua.

The University of Nevada, Reno’s National Geothermal Academy also was one of eight programs, companies or individuals to receive special recognition during the awards ceremony. The academy was recognized for its role in promoting geothermal worldwide.

Congratulations to the GRC members who were honored by the prestigious US awards.

The GRC will hold its global awards luncheon on Wednesday, October 3 at the GRC 2012 Annual Meeting at the Peppermill Resort Spa in Reno, Nevada.
