Renewable energy comes in various different forms – through wind, sunlight, water and more. With the global industry relying on renewable energy now more than ever in their quest for a carbon-reduced world, the engineering of these new, sustainable energy forms is becoming more diverse and more innovative.
One such innovation, however, really takes the ‘clean’ out of clean energy. Chinese engineers are pioneering and implementing the world’s first large scale sewerage geothermal technology.
Developed by Jin Da Di Energy Engineering & Technology Co. in Tianjin China, this renewable energy source relies on heat harvested by sewerage in order to create energy. The actual process involves the implementation of pipes, which divert waste water flow into a heat extractor, which is then used to heat and cool buildings.
