The Tauhara North No 2 Trust has taken up a further 10 per cent stake in its two geothermal joint ventures with Mighty River Power.

The trust paid $40.5 million to increase its stakeholding to 35 per cent in the Rotokawa geothermal steamfield and the 140 MW Nga Awa Purua geothermal power station near Taupo. The transaction was part of an existing agreement between the two parties which allowed the trust to purchase the increased stake for a pre-agreed price and to raise its stake further if desired, subject to revaluation of the assets.
