GTP invites Comments on EGS Technology Roadmapping Information Exchange (U.S. Department of Energy)

The DOE Geothermal Technologies Program invites your input on the technology improvement areas identified at the EGS Technology Roadmapping Information Exchange meeting held in San Francisco, California on August 3-4, 2011.

The meeting focused on the technology needs specific to EGS reservoir characterization, creation, and sustainability/operation. Documents for public comment related to each of these areas are now available on the Geothermal Technologies Program website

Documents for Public Comment
In an effort to facilitate development of and overcome the challenges associated with Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), the Geothermal Technologies Program (GTP) invited subject matter experts to take part in EGS Technology Roadmapping Information Exchange held in San Francisco, California on August 3-4, 2011. The meeting focused on translating high-priority technology needs into targeted technology focus areas.

The meeting broke into three subgroups to discuss technology needs specific to EGS reservoir characterization, creation, and sustainability/operation.

At this time GTP would like your input on the technology focus areas identified at the meeting. Input from a diverse group of experts is paramount in developing a robust technology roadmap. Some questions to consider:
  • Do you think there are other new or innovative technologies that were missed as part of this evaluation?
  • Are there additional technology focus areas that should be included?
  • Do you have any comments on the timelines or metrics used to evaluate these technologies?
Take Action

To provide your comments, click on the documents below, review the proposed improvement areas, and email your comments to Eric.Hass@go.doe.gov by March 9, 2012 (extended deadline).

For public comment:
We would greatly appreciate your insight in order to further refine the final roadmap.
