Settlement negotiations will continue in the lawsuit regarding Bottle Rock Power, LLC (BRP) geothermal expansion after a judge Monday granted the parties' request for more time to discuss resolution proposals.
Friends of Cobb Mountain, a local environmental group, filed a petition in May asking the court to reverse decisions made by the Lake County Board of Supervisors (BOS) approving the BRP project.
The company proposes to construct two new geothermal well pads, drill up to 22 production and injection wells and add nearly 1.3 miles of pipeline on roughly 470 acres of surface land it leases on High Valley Road in Cobb.
BRP operates a power plant and three geothermal well pads on land adjacent to the expansion area.
The petition lists the County of Lake and the BOS as respondents. BRP is among several "real parties in interest."
A representative of the County Counsel's Office appeared in Department 1 of the Lake County Courthouse Monday afternoon for a case management conference. Attorneys for the petitioner and BRP participated by phone.
The lawyers asked Judge David W. Herrick for another 45 days to continue settlement discussions.
Herrick rescheduled the court conference for April 30 at 1:15 p.m. in Department 1.
