North India Power Co. Welcomes Bids for Pugah Geothermal Energy Project (Powerbase - India)

Proposals have been invited by Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Limited (JKSPDC) for installing a 5 MW research and development (R&D)-cum-technology demonstration and resource assessment multi-purpose project for power generation and direct uses from the Pugah geothermal project at Puga valley in Ladakh District of Jammy and Kashmir, on build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis.

The scope of work for the project will include site preparation and civil work, reservoir monitoring, power generation technology, transmission line and power evacuation, plant commissioning and charging of transmission line, preparation and submission of a detailed project report.

The project is to be set up in Leh district of Ladakh. It has been conceived with an objective to obtain baseline information on geothermal project development which may be of great use for planning the harnessing of geothermal resources in the Ladakh region of the state as well as other parts of the country.
