Best practice guidelines for Danish geothermal projects

A very limited number of geothermal projects have been successfully developed in Denmark; in large parts due to the lack of knowhow, and the difficult transition from thought to action.

To encourage stakeholders to initiate such projects and increase the odds of completion, it is paramount that experiences are shared among the community and the industry as a whole.

Consequently, Energistyrelsen has in 2015 made six reports with guidelines of best practices for geothermal development:

• Strategic approach
• Verification process for geothermal projects
• Regulatory procedures
• Organisation and competences
• Content of standard contracts
• Budget and financial management for geothermal wells

We strongly encourage potential project owners/managers to let these guidelines support their work, and seek the open source reports that may be acquired here.
