FDC Misamis Power Corp. takes over Mt. Apo Geothermal Plants (Manila Standard Today)
The government has turned over the management of the contracted capacities of Mt. Apo geothermal power plants and a portion of the contracted capacities of Unified Leyte geothermal plants to the winning bidders.
The Philippines Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) president Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. said in a statement that the agency has concluded its selection and appointment of independent power producer administrator for the output of the Mindanao I and II (Mt. Apo 1 and 2) geothermal power plants rated at 54.24 MW each, as well as the strips of energy portion of contacted capacities in the Unified Leyte Geothermal Power Plants. “PSALM turned over the ownership of government’s contracted capacities in these power plants on 26 December 2014, which is the effective date,” Ledesma said.
PSALM issued the certificate of effectivity to FDC Misamis Power Corp., the winning IPPA for Mt. Apo 1 and 2. It also issued the certificates of effectivity to seven companies for the strips of energy of the Unified Leyte power plants, including Aboitiz Energy Solutions Inc., which was awarded 40 MW; FDC Utilities Inc., 40 MW; Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corp., 40 MW; Unified Leyte Geothermal Energy Inc., 40 MW; Good Friends Hydro Resources Corp., 20 MW; Vivant Energy Corp., with 17 MW; and Waterfront Mactan Casino Hotel Inc., 3 MW.
