Feds Approve $1 Million for Salton Sea Restoration (The Desert Sun)

The U.S House of Representatives late Thursday approved a spending bill that includes $1 million for Salton Sea restoration.

Rep. Raul Ruiz, Democrat - Palm Desert, successfully sought that money for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, which has monitored water quality and analyzed various restoration proposals over the years despite the lack of a comprehensive restoration plan.

Ruiz's Salton Sea amendment was added to the spending bill, which would pay for the federal government's energy and water resources programs in fiscal 2015. The Ruiz amendment passed by voice vote on Wednesday, meaning no roll was taken. No one spoke against it.
