USA, California: Scoping Workshops For Geothermal Operators


Workshops To Discuss California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Compliance And Blowout Prevention Equipment (BOPE) Requirements


The Department of Conservation, Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) will be conducting two workshops for geothermal operators on the same date at the same location. The workshop purposes are the discussion of geothermal project compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the Division’s role in CEQA, and blowout prevention equipment requirements for high temperature hydrothermal geothermal resources.

Tuesday, January 15, 2019, Imperial County Fire Department, Imperial County Operations Center, 1078 Dogwood Road, Suite 105, Heber, CA 92249
  • CEQA Session from 9:30 – 11:30 am*
  • BOPE Session from 1:00 – 3:00 pm*

The CEQA workshop will address the following:
  • Review of DOGGR’s role in CEQA
  • Compliance documentation
  • Indemnity agreements
  • Project descriptions
  • Acceptable CEQA submittals and examples
  • Q&A
All other CEQA-related materials are available to view and download from the CEQA Website, located at http://www.conservation.ca.gov/dog/CEQA/.

Additional CEQA Guidance documents will be developed and uploaded onto the website to help facilitate the CEQA review process.

The BOPE workshop will discuss:
  • DOGGR Publication No. M07 Section 4
  • BOPE requirements for high temperature hydrothermal systems
