USA, Nevada: Geothermal Resource Decision Workshop in Reno

National Geothermal Academy 2018

The U.S. National Geothermal Academy will be running in 2018, with a geoscience focus:
Module 1: Geothermal Resource Decision Workshop. 

Dates: 18-22nd June 2018 (Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm)
Instructors: William Cumming, Nicholas Hinz, Bridget Ayling and others.
This course is directed at teaching geoscience and engineering students and professionals how geothermal conceptual models are constructed and how they are used to support a resource decision assessment process. Participants will work in teams to complete exercises using real data from magmatically-heated, volcano-hosted geothermal systems, and, deep-circulation heated, fault- and sediment-hosted geothermal systems, to simulate the experience of professionals advising a geothermal developer in making high-value resource decisions. It is intended for outstanding undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals with strong backgrounds in geoscience, math, and/or engineering. All classes will be held at the University of Nevada, Reno's Redfield campus in south Reno. International and USA applicants welcome.

Course cost: Professionals: USD $1,800 ; Current students: USD $1,000
Applications from students (2 credits) due by 4th June 2018.
Applications from professionals (certificate) due by 11th June 2018.
Applications accepted only until course is filled (capped at 25 participants).
