Houston-based power generation company Calpine Corp., one of the biggest U.S. power generators including the operation of geothermal power plants at The Geysers in northern California, reportedly is close to securing a buyer.
People familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that private equity firm Energy Capital Partners is in advanced talks to buy Calpine. A deal could be announced as early as next week, but the talks could still fall through because no final agreement has been reached, the unnamed sources said.
