USA, California: Gov. Brown Proposes Additional Funding for Salton Sea Restoration

Governor Brown’s $122.6 billion budget plan

Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today proposed a $122.6 billion General Fund budget plan for 2016-17 that addresses climate change by continuing the administration's actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a $3.1 billion Cap and Trade Expenditure Plan that will reduce emissions through programs that support clean transportation, reduce short-lived climate pollutants, protect natural ecosystems and benefit disadvantaged communities.

The budget also proposes additional funding for Salton Sea Restoration—An increase of $80 million Proposition 1 funds for the Department of Water Resources to design and implement projects that expand habitat and suppress dust at the Salton Sea, a critical resting stop for migratory birds.
