Philippines: Drilling Starts at 40 MW Montelago Geothermal Project

Nickel Asia sees 40% drop in shipment value in Jan.-Sept. (BusinessWorld Online Edition)

Nickel Asia said its 66%-owned renewable energy firm Emerging Power, Inc. (EPI)'s geothermal project, the 40-MW Montelago plant in Occidental Mindoro will begin drilling work this week, to be done by Iceland Drilling.

The listed company also announced that it has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction to the Spanish-Italian consortium, TSK-Turboden.

The intent of the first phase of the project is to build up to 20 MW geothermal power plant but also to use the geothermal water for direct use for the local population.
