Philippines:

Philippines Government Firming up Offer on 4 Geothermal Sites (Manila Bulletin)

Bidding to start December 15

Processes are being firmed up for the planned offer of four geothermal sites via the contracting round that has been devised by the Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) on the award of service contracts.

“There are four geothermal sites that we have been intending to offer… we will launch it December 15 this year,” DOE director Mario C. Marasigan has noted.

“We will have the launching if we are successful with our stakeholders’ consultation — the last leg of which will be on Tuesday (December 2) in Cebu,” he added.

Marasigan emphasized that two of the sites are in Mindanao – one of which is the 40 MWAmakan geothermal potential in Compostela Valley; and the other one is a smaller 20 MW prospect in Balut Island, Davao Occidental.

The third site is Cabalian in Southern Leyte; and the fourth is the Acupan-Itogon geothermal site in Benguet in Northern Luzon.
