Philippines/Dutch Consortium to Build 20 MWe Geothermal Plant on Mindoro Island (Yahoo! News - Philippines)

Local and foreign firms led by Constellation Energy Corp. (CEC) and Emerging Power Resource Holdings Inc. (EPRHI) are building a 20 MWe geothermal power project in Barangay Montelago, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro to make the island less dependent on diesel-powered energy.

Constellation Energy Corp. Chairman Leviste said the project is in full swing with their Dutch partners and experts are already completing the Controlled Source Magnetotelluric Survey and have government endorsement of the early commissioning of the project.

CEC is developing the Montelago project under a Geothermal Renewable Energy Service Contract granted by the Department of Energy and will initially build a 20 MWe power plant on-site. The geothermal field, according to the initial survey, has potential for as much as 70 MWe.
