Passion for science leads to top geothermal post for GRC Member (Reno Gazette-Journal)

As a little girl, it would be accurate to say that Wendy Calvin’s interests were quite different from her peers.

“I remember helping my dad build a kit radio,” Calvin said. “I actually helped build the circuit board and also soldered things together. I even learned about resistor code.”

What followed was a love affair with science, technology and math that continues to this day. As director of the Great Basin Center for Geothermal Energy at the University of Nevada, Reno, Calvin is now heavily involved in the exploration and research of a key renewable resource for Nevada.
