Austria: Directional Controlled Vertical Geothermal Well to be Drilled up to 2750 Meters

Joint Venture Wins Contract for Geothermal Well in Austria (Renewable Energy Magazine)

The joint venture of Züblin Ground Engineering and Huisman was awarded a contract for the delivery of a geothermal well in Mehrnbach, Ried im Innkreis, Austria.

The company GRB Geothermie Ried Bohrung GmbH, a subsidiary of Energie Ried GmbH, Energie AG Wärme GmbH and Nahwärme Mehrnbach GmbH  & Co KG, contracted the joint venture for drilling and completion of the geothermal well TH3.1 via a day rate based contract.

The directional controlled vertical well is planned to be drilled up to a depth of 2610 m to 2750 m in order to exploit the Upper Malm reservoir. The abandonment of the old well TH3 and the conductor installation for the new well have already been performed by Züblin earlier this year.
