Iceland: 45 MW Phase I Theistareykir Geothermal Power Plant Begins Operations

Þeistareykjavirkjun - Official startup of Landsvirkjun's new geothermal power plant (EFLA)

Þórdís Gylfadóttir, Minister of tourism, industry and innovation, connected officially Þeistareykjavirkjun to Landsnet‘s power grid.

The official startup of the first unit of the 2x45 MW power plant was on November 17th while the second unit is scheduled to go online in April 2018.

The power plant will improve the electricity supply for the northeastern part of Iceland and provide electricity to PCC Bakki Silicon.
