United Kingdom: Geothermal Energy Misses out on Round of Government Subsidies

Renewables subsidies plummet in the UK (Lexology)

Subsidies for geothermal energy projects are not included

The second round of Contracts for Difference (CfD) allocations were announced by the UK Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) yesterday, for Advanced Conversion Technology (ACT), dedicated biomass and offshore wind – the so-called “less established technologies”.

Notable by their absence are tidal and geothermal projects, raising further questions over their development in the UK.
