In New Zealand, direct geothermal use includes applications in industrial timber, food processing, agriculture, aquaculture, geothermal heating, tourism, and balneology (medicinal bathing). The New Zealand Geothermal Association (NZGA) believes that there is potential for a significant increase in Geothermal Direct Use.
