India: Exploratory Drilling at Tatapani Geothermal Energy Project to Start Soon

NTPC to establish geothermal potential of Tatapani reservoir (The Pioneer)

NTPC Ltd, formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, will soon drill an exploratory bore-well soon to establish the geothermal potential for  power generation from the Tatapani geothermal reservoir in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh, officials have informed.

For resource assessment of geothermal reservoir at Tatapani, measurement of geological parameters like MT studies, DRS studies is in progress, they informed.

The Project has been taken up under aegis of Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) in association with Geological Survey of India and National Geographic Research Institute, Hyderabad.
