USA, Washington:

Mt. Baker Geothermal Consent to Lease Draft Environmental Assessment Available (News Release)

This project will analyze nearly 83,378 acres to decide whether or not to consent to lease, an if so, what lease stipulations are necessary to minimize impacts to other resources and comply with law, regulation, policy and Forest Plan Direction.

This Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) contains information about a proposal to consent to lease, with stipulations, lands identified as suitable for potential exploration and development of geothermal leasing. This Consent is made to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

The information in this EA is organized to allow the public and the Forest Supervisor of the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest (MBS) to consider the potential future environmental effects of this consent. The Forest Supervisor is responsible for deciding whether or not to select the No Action alternative (Alternative 1) or the Proposed Action alternative (Alternative 2).
