Maibarara Geothermal Plant Starts Operation (Manila Standard Today)

The 20 MWe Maibarara Geothermal project in Sto. Tomas, Batangas started producing electricity for the Luzon grid over the weekend.

Project operator Maibarara Geothermal Inc. said in a statement the newest geothermal power facility in the country began commercial operations on Feb. 8.

Maibarara Geothermal is a joint-venture company that is 65 percent owned by PetroGreen Energy Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of listed PetroEnergy Resources Corp. TransAsia Oil & Energy Development Corp. owns 25 percent and PNOC Renewables Corp., 10 percent.
