More Geothermal Exploration in New South Wales (abc.net)

The New South Wales state government is set to drill core holes in the western region to assess for geothermal energy potential.

The holes will be drilled about two-and-a-half kilometers into the earth near Cobar and Wilcannia during the next four months.

Department of Trade and Investment spokesman, James Knight, says there is very little information about the geology of western New South Wales. The drilling will look for geothermal resources and the capacity to store carbon dioxide.
