Mexican Watchdog Grants Geothermal Import Permits (Business News Americas)

Mexico's power regulator Comisión Reguladora de Energía (CRE) has granted Mexxus RG, a consortium between Mexican and Icelandic geothermal firms, a small producer permit for a 30 MWe geothermal plant in Nayarit state in the Ceboruco volcanic zone. All power will be sold to national utility CFE.

The group expects to begin construction in October 2014 and has an estimated startup in 3Q16.
