Chilean Geothermal Co. Submits Plans for a 70MW Power Plant (Business News Americas)

Renewable energy firm GGE Chile has submitted an EIA for a US$330mn geothermal project set for its San Gregorio concession in southern Chile.

The project, known as Curacautín, will consist of a 70MW geothermal project, fuelled by the steam produced by hot water taken from the ground.

Plans envisage the development of 10 geothermal drilling platforms, consisting of 14 production wells and 11 reinjection wells each.

The San Gregorio concession consists of 9,600ha across regions VIII and IX.

The firm hopes to begin work on the project in mid-2013 and anticipates a 30-month construction period, with the plant coming online in early 2016.
