USA, Washington DC: Geothermal Resources Council Joins Support for the American Energy Innovation Act.

To The Members of The United States Senate

[Latest Action: Senate - 03/02/2020 Cloture on the motion to proceed to the measure invoked in Senate by Yea-Nay Vote. 84 - 3.]

We are writing to urge you to support S. 2657 the American Energy Innovation Act.

Our diverse organizations recognize and agree that climate change is an important national priority that demands Congressional attention. While we may not agree on everything, we believe there is much common ground upon which all sides of the debate can come together to begin to address climate change, promote American technological leadership, and foster continued economic growth. In particular, there is a growing consensus that the development and
commercialization of new technologies are important factor s that will determine how quickly and at what cost greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced.

The American Energy Innovation Act will help to do just that. It is the culmination of extensive efforts by a bipartisan group of senators, led by the Energy and Natural Resources Committee to develop practical legislative solutions that will accelerate these breakthroughs and enable adoption of lower emitting and more efficient technologies. More will need to be done to meet the climate challenge, but thanks to their leadership and commitment, Congress now has its best opportunity in more than a decade to enact significant energy legislation.

Accordingly, we strongly urge you to support this bill and we stand ready to work with you to ensure ultimate enactment of climate and energy innovation legislation in 2020.

Sincerely,
