Japan: Construction of 14.9 MW Appi Geothermal Power Plant Begins

Construction Works Started at Appi Geothermal Power Plant - Aiming to start commercial operation in April 2024 (News Release)


Appi Geothermal Energy Corporation, which was jointly established by Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-POWER), Mitsubishi Materials Corporation (MMC), and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. (MGC), has started construction works of Appi Geothermal Power Plant in August 2019.

Appi Geothermal Power Plant, whose capacity is 14,900kW, will contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and stable power supply. Aiming to start commercial operation in April 2024, Appi Geothermal Energy Corporation is proceeding with construction works safely, with consideration to natural environment.
This project is the second joint geothermal power project by J-POWER, MCC and MGC after Wasabizawa Geothermal Power Plant which started commercial operation on May 20, 2019.
