Geothermal Resources Council Board of Directors


The Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) Board of Directors consists of 28 elected members, plus the President, Past President and the President Elect. Every year, half of the Board’s elected members (13) are chosen by GRC members for a 2-year term.

The GRC 2018 Nominations Committee and GRC Board of Directors have approved 20 candidates for the 2019-2020 term of office. More Information...........

Geothermal Event: Exciting Destination for GRC Annual Meeting & Expo in 2019 - The Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) has announced the venue for the next GRC Annual Meeting & Expo. The 43rd edition of the geothermal energy event will be held in Palm Springs, California, USA, from September 15-18.

Tuesday, November 13
USA: Geothermal Expert is New Director of National Energy Technology Laboratory - GRC Member Brian Anderson, former director of West Virginia University (WVU)'s Energy Institute, has joined the Department of Energy (DOE) as director of the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL).

Spain: Plan to Source 70 Percent of Electricity from Renewables by 2030 - Under the new strategy, greenhouse gas emissions from Spain would be cut by 90 per cent compared to 1990 levels by the middle of the century.

Finance: IEA Forecasts Biggest Geothermal Capacity Additions in Indonesia, Kenya, Philippines and Turkey - World Energy Outlook 2018 examines future patterns of global energy system at a time of increasing uncertainties (IEA). Global geothermal power capacity is expected to rise to just over 17 GW by 2023.

New Zealand, Canada: Subsurface Geoscience and Modeling Software Companies Merge - Seequent Acquires Geosoft: Merger of Leapfrog and Geosoft Brands Creates Subsurface Geoscience and Modelling Powerhouse.

Europe: EU Clean Energy Package Sets 32% Binding Target for Renewables in 2030- Framework allows for the accelerated development of geothermal energy - EGEC.

Iceland: First Electricity at Climeon Geothermal "Heatpower" Plant in Fludir - Christopher Engman, CRO/CMO of Climeon, has announced that electricity has been produced at Varmaorka's geothermal heatpower plant in Fludir in Iceland. Christopher says this is the first step to the first 29 MW.

Finance: Over USD 50 Million Available for Renewable Energy Projects in Developing Countries - Seventh funding cycle of IRENA/ADFD Project Facility now open for applications from government-backed projects in developing countries.

Greece: Government Plans for Nearly 2000 GWh of Geothermal Energy by 2040 -The Greek Ministry of Energy is planning for 1971 GWh of geothermal (Γεωθερμιa) energy by 2040.

United Kingdom: Geothermal Spa Project Reaches 30 Degree Celsius Water at 410 Meters- GEL managing director Ryan Law said hitting the warmer than expected hot water vein was like 'striking gold'.

USA, California: Presentations from Workshop on Lithium Recovery from Geothermal Brine- The Lead Commissioner for Renewable Energy of the California Energy Commission (CEC), David Hochschild, conducted a workshop facilitating a conversation about lithium recovery from geothermal brine on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Two presentations from the workshop have been made available.

Latin America: Sign Up for Third Call Geothermal Development Facility - Expression of Interest - The GDF will open its third call to Expressions of Interest at the beginning of December 2018. We are interested in knowing your project. It can be the beginning of great opportunities for your project and the development of Latin America.

Sweden: Geothermal Heat Power Investment Company to Announce Green Bond- Baseload Capital is a specialized investment entity investing in geothermal heat power. Baseload was established by three Swedish based family offices, and Climeon AB (publ), in order to facilitate the build out of renewable geothermal heat power projects globally.
