Germany: First Tender for Combined Heat and Power Plants Includes Geothermal

Projects with a capacity of nearly 21 MW have secured contracts in Germany’s first tender for innovative combined heat and power (CHP) plants, with the average price arriving at EUR 0.1027 (USD 0.12) per kWh.

The tender sought to award 25 MW for projects that combine a cogeneration plant, an innovative renewable heat source such as solar thermal systems, geothermal energy or heat pumps, and a power generator. It got seven bids for 23 MW, but two were invalidated.
