The Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) Geothermal Library contains over 40,000 records on all aspects of geothermal energy, including exploration, reservoir engineering, power plant design and operation, direct use, geothermal heat pumps, regulatory issues, energy policy, energy markets, news briefs, and more. Now includes all 212 Transactions papers from the 2017 GRC Annual Meeting.


Geothermal Resources Council Announces New Board of Directors

The global GRC membership took part in the ballot in November, and the result was that four new members of the Board were elected: Roland Horne, Jennifer Livermore, Josh Nordquist and Ann Robertson-Tait.

Italy: Exergy Expands Geothermal Generator Business in Turkey - Italian ORC company Exergy will supply the first 12 MVA power plant generator Made-in-Turkey for a new 10 MWe geothermal project recently signed with Kiper Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., part of Kipaş Holding group.

USA, Wyoming: New Explanation for Newberry and Yellowstone Geothermal Heat - Their conclusion? Yellowstone’s heat is being funneled east from the geologically active Pacific Coast.

Commonwealth of Dominica: European Union Provides Funds for Geothermal Energy Development - The EU is assisting the government in establishing a legal framework for the development of geothermal energy and technology.

USA, California: Yesterday, Geothermal Energy Was the Number One Renewable in the Golden State - Yesterday in California, geothermal energy was the biggest provider of renewable electricity to the CAISO grid, with almost 22,800 MWh. Winds produced 5,159 MWh, solar energy (PV and thermal) peaked around midday and only supplied 21,640 MWh.

France: Innovative Well Completed at Cachan Geothermal District Heating Project - The well architecture is a world premiere in geothermal engineering as it achieves a 1,001 meter long, 87° slanted, 8"1/2 openhole drain in the Dogger/Bathonian, Mid Jurassic, oolithic limestone, target reservoir, at a 1,550 m true vertical depth.

USA: Federal Report Estimates Additional 1,610 MW of Geothermal Energy in Next Two Years - The update reports 3.80 GW of geothermal steam in the USA or 0.32% of total capacity. Also included is an estimate of another 1,610 MW of proposed geothermal steam energy capacity from an additional 32 units by December 2020.

Fiji: Request for Expressions of Interest for Resistivity Surveys and Development of a Conceptual Model for Two Geothermal Sites - The World Bank invites expressions of interest from qualified consulting firms to undertake a Resistivity Survey in the Labasa and Savusavu areas of Vanua Levu, Republic of Fiji.
